The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) takes a life-long approach to support people with significant and permanent disability through individualised self-managed funding. The scheme will provide funding so people can get the support they need, based on their individual needs, goals and aspirations.

• Specialised assessment of skills, abilities and needs
• Assistance with daily personal activities
• Assistance with travel/transport arrangements

• Assistance with daily life tasks in a group or shared living arrangement
• Development of daily living and life skills
• Household tasks
• Participation in community, social and civic activities
• Physical wellbeing activities
• Management of funding for supports in a participant's plan
• Therapeutic supports
• Behaviour support
• Community nursing care for high care needs

How Does the NDIS Work?

If you are deemed eligible for support under the NDIS, you will receive funding to purchase services, supports and equipment that you have been assessed as needing through the creation of your plan. You will then be able to choose a service provider, like us here at Quality Health Care to provide those supports. Your funds can be managed by yourself, by Quality Health Care, or by the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA). If your support needs or goals change at any stage, you can apply to have your NDIS funding plan adjusted accordingly.

What is a NDIS Plan?

NDIS participants will need to be assessed by a NDIS planner who will then create a participant plan for them prior to being granted a funding amount. You can choose how to manage the funding for the supports in your plan. When meeting with a NDIS planner to develop a plan, you will need to decide which plan management option is right for you. No matter which option is chosen, you remain in control of which providers you select and when and how your supports are delivered.

There is also a NDIS Planning Workbook which you can fill in to help you get started prior to your planners’ visit.

Who can I speak to about NDIS?

Our team at QHC can assist you in your questions about the NDIS and help you or the person you support get the most out of the scheme. Please call us on 1300 527 464 or email us on office@qualityhealthcare.com.au
You can also contact the NDIS directly on 1800 800 110.

When will the NDIS be available for me?

The NDIS will be rolled out over several years to ensure that it is implemented successfully. The NDIS began its journey in July 2013 in four ‘trial sites’ across Australia and it is now available in other regions. For more information about when the NDIS will be coming to your area, go to NDIS in New South Wales http://ndis.nsw.gov.au/ .

How will the NDIS change how I work with Quality?

Quality Health Care embraced the NDIS from its inception and we are looking forward to the increased choice and control it will give our clients and people with disability. As a registered provider under the NDIS, QHC will work with you to identify supports you need to live your life.

Supports that may help you achieve goals in many areas of your life, including greater independence, involvement in your community, education, employment and health and wellbeing. Our focus has always been, and will continue to be, to support people with disability, including their family and carers, to remain at home and live safe, rich and happy lives as valued members of our community.
