Behaviour Support Practitioner
Based at Hurstville, New South Wales

Quality Health Care is a specialist in-home, disability and community care provider, providing support and services throughout Sydney. Our services are individually tailored to meet the needs of each client and provided in an environment that is caring, friendly and supportive.  We are seeking an experienced Behaviour Support Practitioner to join our therapy team to ensure participants receive quality positive behaviour support services.

Working with a range of stakeholders you will conduct behaviour assessments and provide implementation support aimed at reducing behaviours of concern and increasing quality of life for participants.

Your Role

  • Provide services aligned with the Quality and Safeguarding framework including demonstrating a commitment to reducing and eliminating Regulated Restrictive Practices

  • Undertake Functional Behaviour Assessments for behaviours of concern

  • Develop Behaviour Support Plans that address behaviours of concern and enhance the quality of life for participants

  • Support implementation of Behaviour Support Plans with participants and their stakeholders within and outside of the NDIS

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of strategies and work with participants and stakeholders to make required adjustments 

  • Work towards furthering positive behaviour support approaches within and outside of Quality Health Care


Essential Criteria

  • AHPRA registration in relevant field (e.g. Psychologist/ Occupational Therapist/ Speech Pathologist) and willingness to utilise relevant skills within the organisation

  • Significant experience in providing behaviour support to people with disabilities under the NDIS and under the Positive Behaviour Support Capability Framework

  • Willingness to work flexibly, balancing roles and responsibilities including performance outcomes

  • Strong customer service skills with demonstrated ability to develop and maintain relationships with people with disability and/ or their families and support network and service providers

  • Resilience and competence in high level interpersonal communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills

  • Sound time management skills and demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision

  • Strong written communication skills with the ability to write high quality documentation

  • Current driver's license and willingness to travel to clients where required
