Assistant Accountant

Quality Health Care (QHC) is a specialist accommodation, disability, and community care provider with over 25 years’ experience working with people to achieve their goals. We have a team of over 350 staff and we offer supported independent living, specialised disability accommodation, home care, support coordination, and Behaviour Support.


As an Assistant Accountant, you will play an important role in supporting the Finance Team to ensure the accuracy and efficiency of financial operations. Reporting directly to the Finance Manager, your responsibilities will involve payroll, reporting, financial analysis, and compliance. You will also assist with finance projects and process improvements, helping to ensure we continue providing high-quality care and support to our clients.


The Role:

∙Verifying and correcting monthly financial statements, ledgers, and accounts

∙Manage balance sheet and bank reconciliations

∙Assisting with financial analysis, profit & loss reports, and client/job costing

∙Supporting tax obligations, including BAS, GST, FBT and payroll tax reporting

∙Providing guidance on SCHADS award and resolving payroll queries

∙Maintaining asset registers and supporting financial audits

∙Assisting with the preparation of monthly financial statements and reports for senior management

∙Supporting the team with month-end/year-end close processes and audits

∙Offering financial insights to support business decisions

∙Enhancing accounting processes and collaborating on projects


What we're looking for:

∙Certificate IV in Accounting/Business Administration (or equivalent, as determined by management)

∙2+ years of experience in a similar role

∙Strong attention to detail in managing financial records

∙Understanding of basic accounting principles

∙Ability to handle sensitive information responsibly

∙Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills

∙Ability to work autonomously while being a collaborative team member

∙Excellent customer service and communication skills (both written and verbal)

∙Intermediate skills in Excel and accounting software

∙Team player with excellent interpersonal skills
